At PillDaddy, we believe your health information is deeply personal and should remain private. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your data when you use our app.

The short version: Your sensitive medication data stays on your device. You may also sync to Cloud for synchronization across multiple iOS devices and backup purposes. We show ads to support the free version of the app.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information Stored Locally on Your Device

The following information is stored on your device by default. If you enable cloud sync, this data will be encrypted and transmitted to our servers:

  • Your medication names, dosages, and schedules
  • Any photos or images you add to your medications
  • Any notes or comments you add to your medication entries
  • Your medication adherence history and reminders

1.2 Analytics and Usage Data

To improve our app and understand how it's being used, we collect anonymous analytics data including:

  • Device information (model, iOS version, app version)
  • Usage statistics (features used, screen views, session duration)
  • Performance data (app crashes, errors, load times)
  • General interaction patterns (buttons clicked, navigation flows)
  • Approximate location (country/region level only, not precise location)

This data is collected through third-party analytics services and is used solely to improve the app experience. It does not include your medication information or personal health data.

1.3 Advertising Data

The free version of PillDaddy is supported by ads. Our advertising partners may collect:

  • Device identifiers (Advertising ID/IDFA)
  • IP address and general location
  • Ad interaction data (views, clicks)
  • Browser type and app usage patterns

1.4 In-App Purchase Information

If you purchase the ad removal option:

  • Payment is processed by Apple through the App Store
  • We receive confirmation of your purchase status but not your payment details
  • This is a one-time purchase that is non-refundable
  • The ad removal is valid across all devices where you are signed in with the same Apple ID

2. Where Your Data Lives

2.1 Local Storage

Your sensitive medication data is stored exclusively on your device:

  • Local Storage: Your medication information, schedules, and reminders are stored locally on your iPhone using secure iOS storage mechanisms.

2.2 Cloud Storage (Optional)

Users who enable cloud sync:

  • Cloud sync requires user login
  • Once logged in, your medication data is stored on secure cloud servers
  • Cloud sync enables backup and synchronization across all your iOS devices
  • Cloud sync doesn't run unless user explicitly uploads or downloads files

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

  • App Functionality: To provide core features like medication reminders and notifications
  • Improvement: To analyze usage patterns and improve app performance and features
  • Troubleshooting: To identify and fix bugs, crashes, and technical issues
  • Advertising: To display relevant ads in the free version of the app
  • Communication: To send important updates about the app (if you provide contact information)

4. Third-Party Services

PillDaddy integrates with the following types of third-party services:

4.1 Advertising Networks

The free version of the app displays ads from third-party advertising networks, which may include:

  • Google AdMob or similar ad networks
  • Ad mediation platforms

These networks have their own privacy policies governing how they collect and use data.

4.2 Cloud Services (Optional)

Users who enable cloud sync may have their data stored on servers located in EU.

We do not sell your personal health information. However, we may share data in the following circumstances:

  • Legal Requirements: If required by law, court order, or government regulation

Important: Your medication details, schedules, and health-related data are NOT shared with third parties, except AppWrite (our cloud storage solution partner when you enable cloud sync).

6. iOS System Integration

PillDaddy uses standard iOS features to function properly:

  • Notifications: We use iOS notification services to deliver medication reminders. These notifications are generated locally on your device.
  • App Data Backup: Your medication data may be included in your iCloud or iTunes backups if you have device backups enabled. This is controlled by your iOS settings, not by PillDaddy.

7. App Permissions

PillDaddy may request the following iOS permissions:

  • Notifications: Required to send you medication reminders.
  • Photos/Media (Optional): Used to access photos or files from your device for custom alarm sounds.
  • Ad Tracking: Used by advertising networks to show relevant ads (Ads can be removed with one time payment).

You can review and modify these permissions at any time in your iOS Settings under PillDaddy.

8. Data Security

We take data security seriously and implement appropriate measures to protect your information:

  • Local Data: Your medication data stored on your device is protected by iOS secure storage mechanisms.
  • Encryption: Cloud-synced data is encrypted in transit (using TLS/SSL).
  • Access Controls: We implement strict access controls to limit who can access any stored data on our servers.
  • Security Best Practices: We follow Apple's security guidelines and industry best practices for iOS development.

Please Note: No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your Rights and Choices

You have the following rights regarding your data:

  • Access: You can view all your medication data within the app at any time.
  • Modify: You can edit or delete any medication, or reminder directly in the app.
  • Delete: You can delete all local app data by uninstalling PillDaddy from your device or by resetting the app from the Settings section.
  • Opt-Out of Ads: Purchase the ad removal option to remove all ads, or limit ad tracking in iOS Settings.
  • Cloud Sync: Login is required to use this feature. To delete your medication data from the cloud, reset the app data and sync to cloud, which will overwrite the cloud data with an empty dataset.

10. Data Retention

We retain different types of data for different periods:

  • Local Device Data: Stored on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app.
  • Cloud-Synced Data: Retained as long as you maintain an active account; deleted within 30 days of account deletion request.
  • Subscription Data: Retained for as long as necessary to provide services and comply with legal obligations.

11. Children's Privacy

PillDaddy is not intended for children under 13 years of age without parental supervision:

  • We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
  • Parents or guardians may use the app to manage their children's medications.
  • Parents should supervise their children's use of the app and device settings.

12. Ad-Supported Version

PillDaddy is free to use with ads:

  • Displays advertisements from third-party ad networks
  • Collects analytics and usage data
  • Ad networks may track your advertising ID for personalized ads
  • Cloud sync available (requires login, disabled by default)
  • You can purchase a one-time ad removal option to disable all advertisements

13. International Users

PillDaddy is available globally:

  • Data Storage: Analytics and cloud-synced data may be stored on servers in various locations, including the United States and Europe.
  • Data Transfers: By using the app, you consent to the transfer of your information to countries with different data protection laws.

14. App Store and Payments

If you purchase the ad removal option:

  • All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store
  • We do not receive or store your payment information
  • Apple's privacy policy applies to payment processing
  • We receive purchase confirmation to disable advertisements
  • Transaction data is used solely for purchase verification and fraud prevention

15. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

While the app itself doesn't use traditional web cookies, we use similar technologies:

  • Mobile Identifiers: Device identifiers and advertising IDs for ads
  • Local Storage: To save your app preferences and medication data on your device

You can reset your advertising identifier in iOS Settings to limit tracking.

16. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do:

  • The updated policy will be posted within the app and on our website.
  • The version number and "Last Updated" date will be revised.
  • Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
  • You can always find the current version in the app settings or at our website.
